The goal of kids ministry is to partner with families to disciple children through learning and applying God’s Word together, so that they grow to love and be like Jesus and tell others about Him.
Kids ministry is through the entrance closest to the North side parking lot. A volunteer will meet you to help check in any children. To ensure a safe and secure kids ministry, each child will receive an identification sticker atop their shirt. A corresponding receipt will be given to you and will be required to pick up your child after service.
Kids Classes
We invite all kids 1st Grade and up to join us in the 10 AM Worship Service. Be sure to pick up one of our activity bags as you enter the service.
Preschool Kids
- Children from birth through PreK are invited to join for class during one or both of the 9am or 10:30am service times.
Elementary Kids
- Children from Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to worship in the auditorium during 9 AM service and gather for grade-based classes during the 10:30 AM service.
Families In Fellowship
At Redemption-North Davis, we welcome and encourage children to participate in our Worship Gathering. It is a joy to have your kids in service! See below for suggested practices we think will help your family grow together as followers of Jesus. Additionally, click HERE for a helpful guide for worshiping together as a family.
At Home
1. Practice regular times of family worship. This will help your children get used to coming to church to worship. Family worship is as easy as reading the Bible, singing a hymn, and praying with your children about what you’ve read in the Bible. Pretend-playing “church” also helps!
2. Read the sermon text with your children before Sunday. See the weekly email or Slack to know what text of Scripture will be preached on Sunday. This will better prepare your children, and you, to hear from God’s Word. Our song list is also shared in Slack.
3. Be prepared for Sunday. Sunday morning should begin Saturday night. Lay their clothes out beforehand, pack a bag with activities and a snack, and set expectations about the service with your kids.
4. Have a good breakfast. Don’t come to church on an empty stomach. We all get antsy when we’re hungry!
At Church
1. Use the restroom. Take a trip to the restroom before the service starts. This will help prevent your children from squirming or asking to use the restroom during the service.
2. Find a good seat. Sit in a place appropriate for your children’s age and conducive to the level of attention they need. Don’t be afraid to sit on the ends close to the front (so they can see better), or in back, if you need to exit with children during service.
3. Bring snacks, quiet toys, and use the blue kid bags. Blue children’s bags are available to help younger children participate during the service. It’s perfectly acceptable for your children to color or draw, or use a quiet fidget toy, during the service. It’s remarkable what children are absorbing even when it seems like they’re not paying attention.
4. Model participation and engagement. Your children will follow your lead. Sing loud, open your Bible, say “Amen!”, take notes, and stay off your phone. Let your children see what it looks like to be engaged in the worship service.
After Church
1. Talk about the service with your children. Discuss the songs we sang, the missionaries and churches we prayed for, and what the sermon was about. Encourage your children to ask you questions about the service.
2. Pray for your children. At lunch, pray that the Lord would use the service to work in the hearts of your children, and that he would continue to use sitting under the Word to open their eyes to the beauty of the gospel.
