Church membership is a formal relationship between a local church and a Christian characterized by the church’s affirmation and oversight of an individual’s discipleship and the individual’s submission to living out his or her discipleship in the care of the church.
Membership Process
At Redemption Church, we place a high value on membership. The process for joining our fellowship is as follows.
Membership Class
Attend one of our membership classes. To find out when the next class is, or to ask any questions email nathan@redemptionutah.com.
Covenant with Redemption
Agree to covenant with Redemption Church and commit to join in our mission of making disciples, joining together as members of a family, and mobilizing missionaries.
Membership Application
Fill out and submit our Membership Application and Covenant.
Potential Member Follow-Up
The membership application contains a link to sign up for a time slot to meet with a pastor. These are very informal and are simply intended to give us an opportunity to 1.) know each other better, 2.) know how the church can best support and care for you as you grow as a disciple of Jesus, and 3.) answer any questions you may have (i.e. about us, the church, walking with Jesus, anything!).
Membership Eligibility
As we teach in the Membership Class, those eligible for membership are persons who:
Faith
Has placed their faith in Jesus Christ, and in him alone.
Baptism
Has undergone believer’s baptism (baptism after conversion)
Beliefs
Agrees to cooperate with Redemption’s distinctive beliefs
Covenant
Commits to covenant with Redemption Church

Celebrating New Life with Baptisms
Just Before his ascension, Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, Baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”. These instructions specify that the church is responsible to teach Jesus’ word, make disciples, and baptize those who believe.
Christian baptism illustrates, in dramatic style, the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. At the same time, it also illustrates our death to sin and new life in christ. Romans 6:4 puts it this way: “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life’.
Very simply, baptism is an outward testimony of the inward change in a believer’s life, an act of obedience to the Lord after salvation. Baptism does not save a person, but it does symbolize the salvation that a follower of Christ has received. It’s a public declaration of the redemptive work that God has done in someone’s life.
